The LA Lakers and Kobe Bryant have come to an agreement. If Kobe keeps quiet from here until the start of training camp. The Lakers will try to make something happen with Chicago in order to please Kobe. However the Lakers would be looking for a Kevin Garnett type deal for Chicago.
My sources are telling me that behind the screens the Lakers and Chicago have been talking for about a week now. This is a big move for the Lakers who already traded Shaq and now it looks like Kobe Bryant is on his way to Chicago.
I just have one question for Kobe, why Chicago? Don’t get me wrong Chicago is my home-town and I would love to see Kobe in the east. But it’s going to take the whole team to get Kobe in Chicago. What type of team would the Bulls have? Stay tune.

I may be a Celtic Fan, But Kobe is the Closest thing to The G.O.A.T. in the NBA since MJ’s retirement. I look at the competitive side of Kobe and I see Kobe using his authority this off-season to try and put some Authority in the Lakers youth.
Kobe and Lamar can’t do it all, and Kobe needs a counter part on that team, I am sorry, but Odem don’t demand Authority and if you put Jermain Oneal with Kobe you give that team a total differant look and as competitive as any team in the NBA.
At some point Jerry Buss is gonna have to cough up some cash to get J.O. in Purple and Gold or commit the 2nd sin of Blasphemy and trade Kobe.
But unless Kobe can inspire some authority in Bynum, the lakers look to be in a mode of rebuilding.
Kobe has to have another teamate to counter his own actions and that thrives from pressure and demands Authority under pressure.
It’s one thing for a player to be able to talk the talk it is another for a player to walk the walk.
Allen Houston is on the Celtics list but they aren’t in a rush to get sign him. Like I said before they are waiting on Reggie Miller. The Celtics know what players want to play for them. So they don’t have to rush into anything at this point. They have shown the most interest in Reggie Miller and was told to take his time. Allen Houston wants to come to Boston there is no doubt about it. But he’s a fall back just in case Reggie feels he can’t do it.
I’ve said this a number of times. I hate Kobe Bryant as a person but when it comes to playing the game of basketball there isn’t a player today that has a stronger will to win then Kobe. As much as I hate to say this, Kobe is the closest thing to Michael Jordan then anyone I’ve seen. People get upset with me when I say I would trade Paul Pierce in a hearbeat for Kobe Bryant.
I know the Celtics would trade both Paul Pierce and Ray Allen for Kobe if he wanted to come and play here. That being said the Lakers would be foolish to trade Kobe, on the other hand Kobe would walk in a couple of year and the Lakers would get nothing.

The teams are Boston, Cleveland and NJ. The Herald reported last night is was Danny and Riley. Financially it would seem that Boston and the Cavs are the finalists. Sorry guys I’ve been away from the pc all day doing the family thing. However once the Cs got word that Reggie Miller was not going to pay anyone more the went to plan B. Sign a SG/SF type who can play Defense and provides outside shooting. Also the Cs are signing “good guys” Posey is consider a “good guy” and there has been questions about Patterson personality in the past. So Posey wins out.
As for PJ Brown it really up to PJ, the Celtics would love to add PJ Brown. It clear that he wants to play next season, just for who? Right now the Cs can wait on PJ Brown because he is the best big out there on the market. The Celtics also have to fill the back up PG position and if a guy like Damon Stoudamire is release he is a player the Cs would make a run at too. Really there is only one more move to make becuase they don’t have much money left to spent. So my thought is PJ Brown is first on the list. If a Damon Stoudamire becomes a free agent then he moves at the top of that list.
Say we are in the start of pre season and While Danny is patiently waiting on PJB and Sarunas/Cassell/Stoudamire…Antoine Walker becomes available or some one of that ilk becomes a free agent what do you think Ainge would do? Thug and JRo-Pops Mensah Bonsu is officially a free agent. Dallas will not pick up his 1 year/675,000. option. The Dallas people want Pops to go play in Europe for the year so they can sign him next season. Paul Pierce likes Pops now let’s see if Ainge feels the same. For a versatile 6-9 physical specimen you can’t go wrong for 675,000. We should load up on inexpensive young talent now and let transactions get the roster back in shape come opening night.

There are some “wildcards” in the roster situation. What if Brandon Wallace is an Eric McArthur kind of guy (flash in the pan) then we are down to 13 again. Which is room for a PG and “Big”

BK, for some reason Celtics.com has not added Jackie Manuel. He was signed to a one year contract on 8-1-07. So when we “officially” sign Big Baby our roster will be at 15. I have read where Manuel’s contract was not guaranteed (not sure if it’s true or not) and there could be a chance that he would be cut if someone else became available that would help our team more.

The Houston Chronicle is linking the Celts to The Rockets for a possible Rafer Alston trade. Similar to the Christie talk, it appears to be speculation. Thug had us being interested in “Skip to my lou” before additional legal troubles for the former Fresno st. guard. The backcourt of Chris Herren and Rafer Alston could end up being the most depressing college tandem ever. At 19 these two were the best point guards in the country, now they are just punchlines. Former Celtic Eric Williams, journeymen big men Kelvin Cato and Linton Johnson, and Esteban Batista, the first Uruguayan to ever play in the NBA, all worked out for the Celtics yesterday.
All are expected to continue their workouts today, with coach Doc Rivers and his staff expected to invite at least one and quite possibly two to training camp.
A team source stressed last night that none of these players have been offered guaranteed contracts, though Batista is reportedly demanding exactly that in exchange for a training camp invitation.

With training camp less than two weeks away, the Celtics are taking a look at several free agent big men this week. And the free agents are compiling their own scouting reports of the frontcourt-needy Celtics. Executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge confirmed yesterday that the team is working out several free agents this week at its Waltham practice facility, including ex-Celtics forward Eric Williams, center Kelvin Cato, forward-center Esteban Batista, and forward Linton Johnson III.
“These are guys that have other teams interested,” Ainge said. “They’re taking a look at us and we’re looking at them.”
Ainge said that after a series of pickup games this week he’ll decide whether to offer any of the players contracts. Currently, the Celtics have the maximum 15 players on their roster.

Ainge said he also has interest in free agent swingman Dahntay Jones, who averaged 7.5 points for Memphis last season.
Ainge acknowledged some interest in adding more big-man depth prior to training camp. He did, however, express concern about the aforementioned free agents probably wanting guaranteed contracts.
The Celtics currently have 15 players on their training camp roster, including 12 with completely guaranteed contracts.

Camp roster set

The Celtics signed former Memphis Grizzlies guard-forward Dahntay Jones and Atlanta Hawks forward-center Estaban Batista to non-guarenteed contracts and will join the team in Europe for training camp, bringing the roster to 17.
Jones, who has played his entire four-year career with the Grizzlies, played in a career-high 78 games last season. He averaged 7.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
Batista, 6-foot-10, 270-pound Uruguay native, played sparingly for Atlanta last season, but averaged a tournament-best 12.4 rebounds and 20.8 points during the recent FIBA Americas Championship in Las Vegas.

Wow Great News!!! The 32nd overall pick of the second round in this year’s draft has been listed as day-to-day. Peter Chiarelli spoke for approximately 20 minutes this afternoon to explain the club’s final round of roster moves, cuts that did not include the name of 19-year-old Milan Lucic, who will break camp with the big boys.
“It’s a pleasant surprise in the sense that he’s come this far,” said Chiarelli of Lucic. “He had a pretty good year, a very good finish, a very good summer, and this is just an extension of that. We’ve been preaching that we want to be hard to play against, and this is the type of player we want. They’re hard to find, but we have one right here. But we have to be careful. He’s only 19. We’ll make sure he gets the proper rest and we assess him properly. Three Really Enough For The Celtics?

The Boston Celtics got all of their business handled this summer. The additions of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett locked the Celtics into the top 4 in the east before camp opened. The Celtics gave up a lot of depth to get the Big Three together, so the real questions are who will be player four and player five.
- Who’s likely on the way out – Brian Scalabrine is the guy that least fits, but no one in the league is gonna help Danny Ainge out of that contract. Kendrick Perkins is the next guy on the roster with value. If push comes to shove, KP might be the guy you have you move to get a point guard, but he’s not going to return much.
- The best “logical” deal to make before the deadline. – The Sonics want to move a guard, whether that’s Luke Ridnour or Earl Watson, they want to dump one of them. Neither make the Celtics that much better, so it’s not like that’s the deal to make, but it’s a deal they “”could”" make. The problem is the Celtics can not afford to give up too much depth to get a guard, and they have got to keep their draft picks to re-load as they go. So while there are “”deals”" the Celtics are painted into a pretty tight corner roster wise, these are the guys they have, and likely the guys that will be here come playoff time.

The Celtics’ projected starting five of Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Kendrick Perkins and Rajon Rondo were playing cards Tuesday night when an idea arrived that they all should shave their heads as a sign of unity. Allen and Garnett, both Celtics newcomers, were already shaven bald. So Perkins, Rondo and Pierce agreed to follow suit and came to practice bald-headed Wednesday. Celtics vice president of media services Jeff Twiss nicknamed them “The Bald Five.”
“They’ve been looking at me and KG’s dome for a long time and it became a trend,” Allen said. “From these last three or four days we’ve been together we’ve developed a pretty good bond. And that right there is a sign that we are all on the same page.”
Stars lose to backups

While the Celtics’ starting five includes perennial NBA All-Stars Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, they weren’t even the first or second best team during practice on Wednesday. The first team was defeated by both the second- and third-team and had to run sprints after for losing twice.
“Defensively, we did a poor job,” Allen said. “Offensively, we didn’t help each other out. That is one of those days where we are only going to be better because our second team played pretty well and our third team beat us. We can’t just come in thinking we’re going to win.”

During the first days of training camp in Italy, the team has chosen the word “ubuntu” to finish its post-practice moment with coach Doc Rivers.
The word has its origin in the Bantu languages of Southern Africa and is used to describe a philosophy of life that promotes the greater good rather than individual success. Rivers read about the philosophy during the summer as it related to the teachings of Archbishop Desmond Tutu and said it denotes a belief that one person cannot be successful if those around him are not. Nobody wins unless everybody wins, if you will.
The coach asked Gabe Pruitt, Glen Davis, Brandon Wallace and Jackie Manuel to study the concept of ubuntu, and the rookies made a presentation to the team last Saturday before the flight to Italy.
“The rookies did a good job explaining it,” center Kendrick Perkins said. “They made a great presentation. We’ve got some very intelligent rookies. It’s just our team motto this year. It’s what we’re living by – ubuntu. We stick together. That’s basically what I think it means, just bringing everyone together, everybody sticking together through thick and thin. I think it brings team unity. It’s very unique. I think if we live by it, we’ll be all right.”
WHETHER IT IS PRACTICE WINS OVER THE “BALD 5″ OR THE “UBUNTU” TRAINING SEMINARS THE YOUNG BENCH OF THE CELTICS ARE GAINING THE CONFIDENCE NECESSARY TO CONTEND FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS. ROME – The Celtics [team stats] have until the end of this month to sign Tony Allen to a contract extension, and Paul Pierce [stats] thinks it might behoove the club to get on it.
“Yeah,” said Pierce with a smile, “they’d better do it right now because he may be worth a whole lot more if they wait until after the season.”Perhaps the Celts should take heed. Pierce’s last advice to management was to get some good veterans. “We’ll have a discussion internally and with Mike (Higgins, Allen’s representative),” Ainge said. “I’ll have some conversations with Mike, and we’ll see where we are.
As for his contractual status, Allen said, “I just know where I stand with the organization. I don’t worry about it. That’s the business aspect. That’s what I have my agent for. All I worry about is my basketball. “I’ll say it this way: it’s a dream come true for me to be playing with the Celtics since I’ve been drafted here,” he added. “I’m fortunate to be in this situation and I’m taking full advantage of it now. I just need to get healthy. My work ethic is there. I’m hard-nosed. I think I had the best doctors working on me and the best people working with me now every day. The overall situation with me should just take care of itself.”
Asked if he might just wait and see what he’s worth in the marketplace, Allen said, “I don’t know nothing about none of that. All I know is TA needs to get healthy. That’s all I know.”
For now, that’s more than enough.

Does anyone else think that Ray Allen is not going to help this team very much? Reports from camp seem to indicate that he is not shooting well, he didn’t shoot well in the first game, and he’s an almost totally one dimensional jump shooting player with two freshly surgically repaired ankles. Never mind the fact that he’s at an age where SG’s invariably fall off…Of course, he could find his stroke and everything is gravy as he buries weak side j’s all night – I’m sure this will happen occassionally…just like it did with Wally…but wally didn’t do much else either, and if he couldn’t shoot lights out, he was a major detractor to the team…In all honesty, I think we’re looking at about 14 points a night from Ray Allen and I think Tony Allen, if he remains healthy and regains 90% of his speed, will take over in the starting line up eventually. After Doc is fired.
“The D.O.C.”- I think you should save this discussion for the 2009-2010 season. I’m thinking aberation here, it is far to early in the pre-season to write off Ray when just last season he averaged 26 points a game. At the age of 32 with healthy ankles intact “The Poison” will remain a multi dimensional player for at least 2 more seasons. Now if we have a few more issues with the wheels, that would sway the situation a little closer to your thinking. My honest prediction is that Ray-Ray will drop 20 a night with the “Warrior” Tony Allen fighting for sixth man of the year honors for the next couple of years. In the meantime let’s let the Delorian’s flux capasitor cool off Dockevoc. I miss Lea Thompson and all the other Brat Pack New Wave Queens…. Dean – Allen isn’t really multi dimensional if he doesn’t make shots. That’s all i’m saying. He needs to knock down 48% of his wide open catch and shoots – don’t get me wrong, I think he CAN do it and MAY do it, but you don’t hear about the ‘greats’ ever going through a shooting slump…I think Tony is going to be a beast on this team fairly soon…Perhaps Glen “hehe” Rivers will do some line up ideas that actually involve good players, not start Pollard for Perk lol…what do i know, it’s the Meeperparell in me!!! The second, “The Heart Gently Weeps”, featuring Erica Badu, features a long fought for sample of the Beatles’ song of the same name (i think)…It’s sick – Ghost, Rae and Mef kill it!…it’s a 2007 ‘all that i got is you’…hope the album is hot
